HISTORY is in the air at the Yarrawonga Agricultural Show which is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a touch of nostalgia.
Vintage cars and motorcycles will get visitors into the mood for the heritage dress competition while show favourites will also be revived today and tomorrow.
Show secretary-treasurer Judy Heather said the show was integral to the community and preserving its heritage.
“Even during tough times for the agricultural community this has always been a good place for people to get together,” she said.
“This year will be a good celebration of some of the old crafts and skills like tent-pegging, wood chopping and stockhorse events the way they used to be worked.”
Ms Heather said the show had always been a popular attraction on Yarrawonga’s calendar.
“This is something that brings together people from the whole community and has always drawn a crowd,” she said.
“And it has always been an event that the whole family can enjoy.”
For the younger patrons there is a pet parade, animal nursery, reptile display and Bugs on a Bus for inquisitive minds.
There are also craft, equestrian and stock exhibitions and for the first time a visit from Eroni’s circus.
Meanwhile, record entries are expected at the Wagga Show which wraps up today.
The Culcairn show takes place tomorrow and the Walbundrie Show starts on Monday.
